AGUINALDO, Ifugao – The Department of Agriculture has approved the proposals of four municipalities in Ifugao as well as that of the provincial government to avail of financial aid that would propel productivity and income of the farming sector.

The P94,640,000 worth assistance is funded under the Development Services of the Agri-Pinoy Corn Program of the DA Regional Field Unit.

David Bangsoyao of the Provincial Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Office said the total amount is based on the proposals of accredited farmers’ organizations of Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista, Lagawe, Lamut, and the provincial government.

The assistance will be in the form of services like production support, postharvest development, extension support, education and training, and marketing development service that will help the beneficiaries.

Bangsoyao said the provincial government will be allotted P46,176,000 for production support services for corn and cassava program, post harvest development and marketing development services, and extension support and training.

Among the four municipalities, Aguinaldo will receive the highest financial assistance of P25,442,820.

Bangsoyao said the provincial government through the PAENRO will determine other beneficiaries from other municipalities that did not submit any proposal to the DA regional office.

The DA’s Agri-Pinoy Corn Program is a flagship program which aimed primarily to achieve sufficient and sustainable supply of staple food in the country.
