TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The provincial government headed by Gov. Jocel Baac and Vice Gov. Allen Jesse Mangaoang honored the 10 achievers from the province who graduated from the Philippine Military Academy last month.

The Kalinga graduates belonging to the 2014 Siklab Diwa or Sundalong ikararangal ng lahing bayani sa diwang wagas are Class Top 3 Billy Codiam, Jude Salang-oy, Roderick Alya-on, Bonifacio Banganan, siblings Dennis Ralph and Loreto dela Peña Fernandez, Andrew Ollasic, Robin Callueng, Vanna Clyde Tumbaga, and Ernalin Fernando.

Baac lauded the new graduates for bringing pride to the province. He expressed hope others will follow their footsteps.

“Keep to your hearts the values and knowledge that you have learned from the academy because these will guide you through difficult moments while serving the interest of our people,” he said.

He appealed to the new soldier leaders to uphold their duties to maintain the peace and the internal and external security of the country so it can establish a better opportunity for investment and economic development.

“On our part, we can assure you we will continue to preserve the momentum and the modest gains we have achieved in the province. We will see to it that we will judiciously spend the development funds for projects that are important and needed by our people,” he said, underscoring the province’s vision to link all 153 barangays through road networks.

The governor also shared the achievements of the province, which he highlighted with the delisting of Kalinga as one of the top 20 poorest provinces in the Philippines.

Codiam thanked the Kalinga people for the recognition.

He encouraged the younger generation to use their courage not in useless feuds but in tackling the hardships of getting education.
