Prov’l School Board allots P2.6 M for education fund

BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Provincial School Board (PSB) chaired by Gov. Leonard Mayaen approved P2,664,566 for the Special Education Fund (SEF) this year.

Based on the PSB data, P860,000 is allotted for the expenses of school related activities such as meetings, conferences, information education and communication campaign, trainings, and seminars.

A total of P706,000 is also allotted for honoraria, wages, and benefits of contracted personnel such as volunteer teachers, watchmen, and clerks who are assigned in the different schools, and one board secretary assigned at the Capitol. The remaining P512,366 is allotted as contingency fund.

The SEF has also appropriated P170,000 for the monitoring of provincial paid contractual personnel; P95,000 for treasury tax projects and programs; P70,000 each for the Mountain Province Federation of Parent-Teachers Association and the Mountain Province Public School Teachers and Employees Association in support to their programs/activities; P50,000 each for supplies, and for the maintenance of the swimming pool; P24,000 as aid to delegation to the provincial athletic meet; P20,000 for the electricity bill of the library hub; and P7,200 for load allowance of the secretariat.

PSB secretariat member Nelda Lo said aside from the amount allotted for SEF, the provincial government has also allotted an amount from its regular fund for the honorarium of 14 Alternative Learning System (ALS) facilitators hired by the province who will conduct classes in preparation for the ALS Acceleration and Equivalency test.

Lo said some ALS facilitators started holding classes in January while others started in February and March. Each ALS facilitator will receive honorarium of P2,000 per 64 working hours in a month.
