Zumba practitioners help barangay tanods

Zumba practitioners and enthusiasts in the city will again band together to stage another dance workout for-a-cause this time to benefit the city’s barangay tanods.

The two-hour special workout dubbed “Zumbathon” is set on April 26 at 6 to 8 p.m. at the Baguio Country Club multipurpose hall.

Zumba instructor Arman Lapastora said the benefit workout was organized by the Zumba Instructors Network, Zumba Fitness, Zumba Burnham Fitness Group, and the Baguio Country Club.

This will be the latest in the series of benefit workouts mounted by zumba groups this year with the previous ones devoted to special need groups.

“We all know how our tanods serve our barangays with meager resources. So our organizers and the zumba groups thought of helping them in our own small way by giving the proceeds of this workout to them,” Lapastora said.

Lapastora will be joined by other top instructors in town in leading the zumba denizens during the show.

Those interested to join the workout may avail themselves of the tickets at the Filipinesca studio, GP Shopping Arcade along Mabini Street or from members of the Zumba Burnham Fitness Group from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. at Burnham Park, Orchidarium side.

Zumba is a dance fitness program created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez during the 1990s. It has since gained popularity in the country and lately in Baguio City.
