Much has been done and still have to be done in the fight against drug abuse. This work will definitely involve the concerted action of all sectors of our society — the families, the schools, the churches, non-government organizations, and most especially the youth sector.
In response to the urgent call for a drug-free municipality, specifically on the youth sector, the Sangguniang Kabataan of Buguias in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Department of the Interior and Local Government municipal office conducted a one-day drug prevention forum on Oct. 27 at the BSU-Buguias Campus Social Hall, Loo, Buguias, Benguet.
Councilor Samson Wayan, chair of the committee on peace and order, thanked the parents, the youth, and the school for their participation in the activity, and to the organizers for its successful conduct. He further mentioned that the youth must be vigilant and not complacent in the fight against drug abuse. “This is really a battle for the minds and hearts. So, the need for cooperation among all sectors of society and maybe this is one of the stepping stones in becoming a ‘PDEA agent’ someday,” he said.
Atty. Rubie Lorraine Boya-Lictao, legal officer of PDEA-Cordillera at Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet discussed the following: What is drugs? Kinds of drug, the effects of drugs and the role of the youth and the community on drug prevention. A film showing also formed part of the activity. |
