46 get living aid in Kalinga
by Larry Lopez / PIA

BALBALAN, Kalinga – The Department of Trade and Industry distributed livelihood package to 46 beneficiaries in this municipality.

Rowena Boston of DTI-Kalinga said the beneficiaries received packed commodities worth P10,000 under DTI’s Pangkabuhayan para sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PBG) program.

There are now 105 PBG beneficiaries in the province this year with the first batch, consisting of 59 beneficiaries, receiving their kits in June.

The PBG aims to provide help to existing and potential micro, small and medium enterprises to propel their economic activities and recover from losses brought by the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It also includes former rebels and other low-income individuals whose livelihoods were affected by the Covid-19 lockdown.

The latest PBG beneficiaries are from identified convergence areas of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

Beneficiaries are engaged in livelihood projects that include sari-sari store, hog production/trading, rice production/trading, soft-broom making, carpentry, barber shop, food processing and furniture.

Before the distribution, profiling of beneficiaries was done to determine the livelihood projects they needed.
