City inaugurates dancing fountains
by Jho Arranz / PIO

The city government will now manage the musical dancing fountains at the Rose Garden after these were turned over to the city on June 27.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan said the city will have to allot additional funds for the operation of the fountains, considering that these are added attraction that will help boost the tourism industry.

With the operations of the musical dancing fountains at Rose Garden, the city will need about P30 million yearly for the maintenance of Burnham Park.

Domogan said the monthly income derived from the different concessionaires at Burnham Park is P8M.

The dancing fountains project was initiated by the Tourism Infrastructure Enterprise Zone Authority with a counterpart funding from Rep. Bernardo Vergara.

“Let us give credit to Congressman Vergara for exerting effort for the realization of the project,” Domogan said during his weekly forum.

The dancing fountains are part of the rehabilitation of the Rose Garden, which is being done in accordance with the master development plan of Burnham Park prepared by the University of the Cordilleras and approved by the city council.
