City Mayor’s Office clarifies report on 70th end of WWII commemoration
by BMC Release

The Baguio City Mayor’s Office through its Public Information Office announced on Sept. 2 that, contrary to previous reports, there would be no event at the U.S. Ambassador’s Residence at Camp John Hay in the morning of Sept. 3.

The PIO earlier reported, based on initial information from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, that President Aquino and other officials would attend the 70th anniversary of the World War II at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence on Thursday morning.

On August 28, the NHCP representative informed the mayor’s office that the event in the morning of September 3 had been cancelled, and the mayor’s office then made that announcement.

U.S. Embassy Manila Press Attaché Kurt Hoyer on Sept. 2 also confirmed for Midland Courier that no event ‎ is taking place at the U.S. Ambassador’s Residence in the morning of Sept. 3.
