BCPO serves 27 warrants, nabs 17 for illegal gambling

Operatives of the Baguio City Police Office has served warrants of arrest to 27 individuals, including suspects in heinous crimes, while 17 others were caught for illegal gambling during its 48-hour “one time-big time” operation on Aug. 29 and 30 in the city.

On Aug. 29, a tip from a concerned citizen led to the arrest of three individuals who were caught playing the card game pusoy with bets at 4 p.m. at a junkshop in Bengao, Marcos Highway. The arrested individuals were all brought to Station 10 for proper documentation together with confiscated items that include P400 bills, one set of playing cards, and one table made of flat sheet and wood.

On the same hour, operatives of BCPO Station 4 verified the report from another concerned citizen of an illegal bingo activity at Barangay Hillside. As a result, 10 individuals, mostly women, were caught in the act playing bingo.

The arrested individuals failed to present to the authorities permit allowing them to play bingo with bets.

Seized with the arrested individuals were 144 pieces of mahjong tiles, two pieces dice, four Monobloc chairs and one wooden table, and P2,225.

All the arrested individuals will be facing violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or the illegal gambling law.

BCPO also reported the arrest of a 44-year-old Philippine Army Reservist for carrying an illegal weapon inside a bar on Aug. 29. The suspect was then brought to Station 7 for inquest and is facing violation of concealing deadly weapon.

S/Supt. Ramil Saculles, BCPO director, also reported that police operatives served the warrants of arrest of 27 individuals facing various cases in the city, including a 57-year-old, who is the seventh top most wanted person of BCPO Station 6 for the third quarter of 2018.

Saculles also reported the arrest of two individuals identified Anthony Dipasupil and a female companion during the implementation of search warrant at Avelino Street, Andres Bonifacio barangay on Aug. 30.

Composite police and anti-narcotics operatives also seized from the suspects 25 sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia, aside from marijuana stalks.

Police operatives likewise arrested one suspect at City Camp Central on Aug. 29 for marijuana.

A 57-year-old male suspect was also arrested at Camp 7 for illegal possession of .22 caliber and various ammunitions while BCPO also reported that seven more individuals were arrested for estafa charges.

A 57-year-old female suspect was also arrested for one count of illegal recruitment committed in large scale with no bail recommended.

The other suspects were arrested during the serving of warrants for various criminal charges.
