LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Marijuana plants worth P11.6 million were destroyed in Tinglayan, Kalinga and 55 wanted persons in the Cordillera and three alleged drug personalities were arrested in Baguio City during a two-day operation of the Police Regional Office Cordillera last Aug. 28 and 29 as part of its sustained operations against illegal drugs and criminality.

A total of 45,500 fully grown marijuana plants and 20,000 grams of marijuana stalks with Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) market value of P11.6M were uprooted by combined police operatives together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera in Barangays Buscalan and Butbut Proper, Tinglayan in 7,150-square meter plantations.

The 58 arrested individuals, on the other hand, included two persons who are in the top 10 most wanted persons for the third quarter of 2018, according to the Cordillera police command led by C/Supt. Rolando Nana.

Apayao’s top three TMWP, Loreto D. Eusebio Jr., 37, mecha-nic, and charged for reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property was arrested at his residence at Sta. Maria, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao last Aug. 29 by operatives of Alfonso Lista MPS.

Leonida C. San Jose, 57, a barangay kagawad and listed as seventh TMWP of BCPO Station 6 and charged for estafa was nabbed at her residence at Barangay San Jullan West, Agoo, La-Union last Aug. 29 by BCPO Station 6 personnel. Judge Leody M. Opolinto of MTCC Br. 3, Baguio City recommended a bail bond of P40,000 for her temporary liberty.

BCPO recorded 16 arrests followed by Benguet PPO and Kalinga PPO with 12 arrests each, Abra PPO with six arrests, Mountain Province PPO with four, Apayao PPO with three, and Ifugao PPO with two arrests.

Joint operatives in coordination with PDEA-Cordillera also arrested drug personalities in a two-day operation.

Emmanuel E. Tadios, 53, and an overseas Filpino worker, was arrested in his residence at City Camp Central in the morning of Aug. 29.

Two transparent heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, a plastic sachet containing suspected dried marijuana with undetermined value, and assorted drug paraphernalia were confiscated from the suspect.

On Aug. 30, Anthony S. Dipasupil and Grace Ubusan Sibog at Avelino St., Barangay Andres Bonifacio was also arrested. Confiscated from their possession were 25 pieces heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and suspected dried marijuana leaves and stalks with a total DDB value of P126,250, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

The Cordillera police command under C/Supt. Rolando Nana said in a statement the recent successful operations show the command’s firm commitment to intensify the destruction of marijuana plants and free the region from illegal drugs, in line with the instruction of the Philippine National Police chief to eradicate all marijuana plantations and eliminate, if not totally eradicate all forms of illegal drugs activities and to put behind bars all wanted persons in the region.
