BeGH workers free from COVID-19
by Ofelia C. Empian

Health workers at Benguet General Hospital are thankful they remain negative of the Covid-19.

BeGH Chief of Hospital Dr. Meliarazon Dulay said hospital workers undergo test at least every two weeks or as needed. Prior to reassignment to another ward, personnel also undergo test.

“We are thankful to God that despite being tired from their shift, there are those with symptoms such as fever, and others going down with the flu, their results still came out negative,” Dulay said.

Those who undergo regular test are nurses stationed at the Covid-19 ward and those in the isolation area for suspected cases.

Dulay said concerned health workers would only be allowed to return to work if they test negative of the infection.

There are three Covid-19 positive patients being cared for at the provincial hospital.

Dulay said other services of the hospital may be availed of, such as elective surgeries.

“We know that during a pandemic, the hospital should be the last institution standing. Services must continue. Despite the crisis, we are able to give the services to the community,” she said.

She said BeGH is also preparing for the possible surge in dengue fever and typhoid fever cases.

Dulay said the best way to beat the Covid-19 is for the community to continue observing minimum health protocols like hand washing, wearing of face mask and physical distancing.

Benguet Gov. Melchor Diclas has urged the community not to discriminate health workers as well as those who recovered from the Covid-19 infection.
