DIALYSIS CENTER -- The 10 dialysis machines and chairs donated by the Department of Health central office to Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital in Abatan, Bauko, Mountain Province will be installed in time for the opening of the completed Dialysis Building in June. Earlier, LHMRH Medical Center Chief Glenn Mathew Baggao assisted DOH-CAR Dir. Lakshmi Legaspi in the groundbreaking rites of the extension building project worth P24.7 million.

The Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital (LHMRH) has started the construction a four-storey extension building worth more than P24 million after the ground breaking at the building site in Abatan, Bauko, Mountain Province,  recently.

The extension ward building, which is expected to be completed by February 2018,  aims to accommodate more patients of LHMRH, a 100-capacity level 2 hospital.

The project is an addition to the ongoing P45.8M expansion projects funded by the Department of Health through its Health Facilities Enhancement Program.

These infrastructure projects include construction of the Dialysis Building and Out Patient Department extension, completion of OR/DR OB gyne and surgical wards, machine-drilled deepwell, relocation of the CT scan transformer, renovation of the power house, completion of the second floor of motorpool, construction of laundry facility and construction of access road to the oxygen generating plant.

The DOH central office has already delivered 10 units of dialysis machines ready for installation while the first batch of nurses from LHMRH is undergoing a four-month dialysis training in preparation for the opening of the Dialysis Center in June.

LHMRH Medical Center Chief Glenn Mathew G. Baggao said that the expansion projects aim to fulfill the hospital’s mission “to provide progressive health care services in the communities we serve.”

He said the improvements and developments LHMRH achieves are the result of the concerted efforts of the employees. He is grateful for the future plans to improve the hospital such as the installation of a drug rehabilitation center, trauma unit, and stroke unit, among other projects.

The hospital chief added that the expansion projects are timely because LHMRH recorded a consistent increase of patients for the past two years. Patients of LHMRH do not only come from the different municipalities of Mountain Province but also from other areas like Buguias and Mankayan, Benguet; Quirino and Cervantes, Ilocos Sur; Tinoc, Ifugao and Tabuk City, Kalinga.

Mountain Province Rep. Maximo Dalog has sponsored a bill that seeks to turn LHMRH, a 100 bed capacity into a 200-bed capacity hospital. The bill was approved in the committee level at the Lower House last month.
