Partylist group allots P.9 M medical aid for poor patients
by Harley F. Palangchao

Close to a million worth of medical assistance has been allocated by a political partylist to indigent patients of Baguio and Benguet.

The Ating Aagapay Sentrong Samahan ng mga Obrero, Inc. or Aasensyo Partylist said the P0.9 million medical assistance will be allotted to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center and Benguet General Hospital.

Aasenso national chairman, retired police general Isagani Nerez, said the assistance fund is apart from the P36M in infrastructure projects in different parts of Northern Luzon under the group’s Health, Education, Livelihood and Protection or HELP program.

Nerez said medical assistance worth P300,000 was extended to BGHMC in 2016 while another P300,000 was allocated for indigent patients of the same hospital for the first quarter of 2017.

“While the amount is relatively small, it will be a big help to the poor patients who need medical aid,” Nerez said.

The group also set aside P150,000 for BeGH based in La Trinidad, Benguet while another P150,000 was allocated to the Abatan Emergency Hospital in Buguias, Benguet.

Indigent patients may avail of the assistance by submitting medical abstracts and certificate of indigents to Sammy Bumangil, focal person of Aasenso in Baguio. He can be contacted through his mobile  number 0917-999-8150.

For the community project, the multipurpose building in barangays Camdas and Palma worth P2M each are under construction.

Another P2M was set aside for Barangay Tinongdan in Itogon, Benguet and P3M for the flood control projects in different parts of Benguet.

Nerez said apart from the HELP program, they will also provide assistance on education programs for the construction of an alternative learning center in the city and an education center for Muslims in Baguio.

“This is to address the issue of Muslims in the streets who must be provided with education,” Nerez said.

Other projects of the group include the flood control in Laoag City worth P3M; P2M multipurpose hall in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte; P2M for Badoc Elementary School; P2M for Bugallon Elementary School in Pangasinan; and P20M flood control for the 2nd district of Pangasinan.
