PRC, Aguinaldo LGU ink MOA for Blood Samaritan Program
by PIA-Ifugao

AGUINALDO, Ifugao – The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) here and the municipal government have inked a memorandum of agreement for the effective implementation of the Blood Samaritan program (BSP) for indigent patients in the town.

The BSP aims to assist indigent patients needing blood transfusion.

The PRC is looking for individuals or groups that are willing to give financial donations to support the blood needs of the indigents. The cash donation will cover the payment of blood processing fees of legitimate indigent patients.

The MOA states that PRC-Ifugao operates a network of blood service facilities with capabilities to make blood readily available to patients in need and prioritize issuance of blood to members, their dependents, and referrals while the municipal government will appropriate funds for the BSP.

Funds shall be used for indigent patients who are bonafide residents of the municipality to cover blood processing fees only on a first-come, first served basis.

Both parties also agreed to coordinate in facilitating the provision of financial assistance for indigent patients.

Earlier, the PRC-Ifugao and Alfonso Lista unit inked a Memorandum of Partnership (MOP) for the delivery of humanitarian services.

Eng. Carmelita Buyuccan, board of director of PRC-Ifugao and Alfonso Lista Mayor Glenn Prudenciano signed the MOP for the proper collection, storage, and use of blood donated.

The MOP added that the LGU, in partnership with PRC-Ifugao, will organize and conduct bloodletting activities and deposit to the chapter’s blood bank for patients referred by the LGU.
