ABRA ā The Cordillera police regional command reached out to hapless villagers of the remote town of Tineg, Abra by conducting a free medical and dental mission in Barangay Alaoa last June 19.
Beneficiaries of the medical and dental mission totaling to about 380 residents said it was their first time in two decades to be provided with social services right in their own place.
The Cordillera police through the Abra Police Provincial Office were divided into three teams during the conduct of the free medical and dental mission with Unilab and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office as sponsors of the free medicines given to the residents.
Police were successful in the conduct of the mission despite the difficulties in transportation and inaccessibility of the place, according to S/Supt. Alexander Pumecha, Abra police director.
Pumecha said the event is an indication that the Philippine National
Police is making good of its promise to be an active partner of the local government unit of Tineg in bringing government services closer to the people.
This, as ranking Cordillera police officers have challenged Tineg officials
led by its mayor, Edwin Crisologo, to return to their town and serve their people.
Aside from the health mission, Pumecha and Abra Task Force commander S/Supt. Noel Manabat held a dialogue with the local officials headed by punong barangay Henry Sagud, Tineg councilor Rey Tande, and the community residents regarding their concerns and problems affecting their locality.
The two police officers solicited community support on the project proposal to construct police stations in their areas for better and efficient delivery of police services for a peaceful community that will eventually lead to more improvements and development.
In Camp Dangwa, Cordillera police director C/Supt. Eugene Martin said the mission was successful even as he vowed that efforts will be undertaken to bring back the trust of the public to the Abra police. |
