Brigida Eskwela kicks off in Kalinga
by PIA–Kalinga

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Kalinga Schools Division kicked off the Brigada Eskwela last May 10 in preparation for the opening of classes in June.

Rodolfo Ballog, schools governance department head of Kalinga Schools Division, said Barangay Taloctoc in Tanudan has hosted the activity for school year 2017-2018. Other schools in the province will follow with their respective campus brigada, he said.

Like in the previous years, the kick-off in Taloctoc tackles three-point agenda. First is the regular preparation of classrooms, grounds, and other facilities. Second are the activities under Oplan Balik Eskwela 2017, and third is the management committee meeting from May 10 to 12 which was attended by all division school heads.

Ballog said among the salient issues raised include the need for classrooms particularly in the upper districts of the division where some school building projects may not be ready yet in June. The situation could be more serious considering that several classroom projects in the area were turned down by contractors because of the high cost of hauling of materials.

With the support of stakeholders, Ballog assured that classes in the area will open as scheduled.

The Department of Education assigned the theme, “Isang pamayanan, isang bayanihan para sa handa at ligtas na paaralan” for school year 2017-2018.
