Kalinga LGU, religious leaders partner in values formation
by PIA

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The provincial government found an ally in pastors and lay leaders on its moral recovery program.

The provincial chapter of the National Chaplains of the Philippines, Inc. (NCPI) will serve as a support arm of the institutionalized Provincial Council for Value Formation.

NCPI officers and members consisting of about 130 chaplains from the different religious denominations in the municipalities took their oath before Gov. Jocel Baac during the inter-agency flag ceremony held Monday at the Capitol.

Former governor Dominador Belac, the provincial chaplain, explained to government employees and elected officials that their task as moral recovery officers or values educators is to teach values so Filipinos would become upright citizens for good governance.

Their tasks include conducting value formation seminars for civil servants.

Bishop Rovel Sollesa, a Methodist and NCPI founder, said the national agenda was presented to President Rodrigo Duterte who endorsed its expansion in the provinces.

Moral recovery program refers to the national campaign for moral renewal, which includes the objectives, strategies and cumulative experiences generated in the course of implementing Presidential Proclamation 62 dated Sept. 30, 1992.
