Watch posts vs Covid-19 set up
by Peter A. Balocnit / PIA

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Provincial Task Force on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) inspected entry points to the province to check on the operationalization of quarantine centers and surveillance posts as part of efforts to prevent the entry of the disease in the province.

The surveillance posts are established at Talaca, Agbannawag, Tabuk to monitor people entering Kalinga from Isabela; Rizal for those coming from Cagayan; Pinukpuk for those coming from Cagayan and Apayao; Balbalan for those coming from Abra; and Tinglayan for those coming from Mountain Province.

Personnel from the City Health Office, Regional Mobile Force Battalion, and Bureau of Fire Protection are in charge of the surveillance post at Agbannawag.

The surveillance posts in Rizal, Balbalan, and Tinglayan are manned by staff from their respective Municipal Health Offices and Disaster Risk Reduction Offices, the Philippine National Police, and the BFP.

Gov. Ferdinand Tubban earlier issued Executive Order 16 creating the task force to monitor and implement guidelines and procedures to prevent the disease from entering the province.

There is also a roving team composed of personnel from the Governor’s Office and the Provincial Health Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Philippine Information Agency.

Provincial Health Officer Ignacio Cawas reported that a room at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital has been designated as a quarantine center for patients who show symptoms of the infection.

Cawas said they conducted an inspection on the Chico River Pump Project construction at Pinococ, Pinukpuk which employs Chinese workers, and added the company has temporarily banned the entry of workers from China to the area.

At present, there are no persons under investigation for Covid-19 in Kalinga.
