Ifugao youths train on mgmt, peacekeeping

Around 175 youths of Ifugao joined two Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) activities conducted by local governments and private partners.

The summits were held from Oct. 20 to 22 at Sta. Maria in Alfonso Lista and from Oct. 24 to 27 at Antipolo, Asipulo, in partnership with the Department of Education, Saint Louis University-Sunflower Children Center, Philippine National Police, and the 54th Infantry (Magilas) Battalion.

The activities were based on various youth empowerment topics, group workshops, and team building activities. It also included leadership skills, physical fortitude, environmental protection awareness, showcasing of talents, preservation of tribal culture and the love of country.

The topics were discussed by guest lecturers and facilitated by representatives from the military, police, teachers, and social workers.

Col. Leopoldo B. Imbang Jr., commanding officer of 503rd Infantry Brigade commended and congratulated the organizers and those involved in the successful YLS activities.

“We give more importance in educating our youths by involving them in youth developmental activities. These youth leaders are the stronghold of the country’s future in attaining peace and progress,” he said.

The conduct of the seminars were coordinated by the Civil-Military Operations personnel of 54IB with the authorities of Sta. Maria National High School headed by Uzman Pagaddut and the Asipulo municipal government through the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development headed by Mary Jane Dulnuan.
