Police emergency hotline
BAGUIO CITY POLICE OFFICE

This has reference to the letter about  an alleged robbery hold-up along General Luna Road, Baguio City at around 10:45 p.m. of Nov. 21 and was published in  Baguio Midland Courier on Nov. 29 issue titled “Where are the police when we need them?”.

Please be informed that  investigation made by this office among the personnel of  SWAT who were on actual duty at the time and date when the incident happened  revealed that they were all required to be at Burnham Park from 8 p.m. of Nov. 21 to 8 a.m. the following day.  Actually, nobody is left in their office especially at night time. This is pursuant to the directive of the city director for them to standby at Burnham Park instead of their office. Nevertheless, they can be contacted thru the base radio operator if there are police assistance/ emergencies for them to respond.

It is theorized that the complainant called up Police Station 7 and not SWAT because those two offices are adjacent to each other.  It is also consistent within the allegation that instead of acting on the complaint, the receiver of the call redirected her to another station because the place of incident is within Station 3 area and not Station 7. Nevertheless, all stations were reminded to extend any assistance to all callers regardless of the area involved.

Our office is reminding the public, in cases which need immediate police action to call our emergency hotline 166. This number is our Tactical Operation Center based at our headquarters and manned 24 hours by dedicated personnel. The personnel receiving the call will immediately communicate thru radio to the concerned station or unit any emergency or problem which needs immediate response.
