Selective implementation of curfew ordinance
NAME WITHHELD, Baguio City

This is about the approach of some personnel of the Baguio police on night bars in town. I have noticed that curfew on bars is implemented selectively.

When one goes around town at night, especially around midnight, one would find some bars literally closed due to the curfew ordinance.

But along Legarda Road, Magsaysay Avenue, and in some areas near Burnham Park, one would find bars that are screaming open, unmindful of the citywide curfew. Among these establishments are the bar, which is located in front of Mount Crest Hotel in Legarda; a bar at Magsaysay; and a country night bar in front of Burnham Park. These establishments accept customers even until the wee hours.

Surprisingly, they sort to have become invisible in the eyes of Baguio City Police Office. I wonder if favors flow freely between these bars and the local police, which makes it possible for them to be spared from scrutiny of our beloved police officers.

The implementation of the Baguio Curfew Ordinance should not be selective. There should be no exceptions. Curfew is curfew. Implement it to all. Don’t make it look too obvious that some establishments are being favored in the implementation of the policy.

This weekend, I will go check such bars and I will take videos and upload it in social media. Let’s see.
