The Police Regional Office-Cordillera and the National Police Commission kicked off the 24th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month recently by awarding commendable achievements of its personnel on PCR.

Awardees of the Medalya ng Ugnayang Pampulisya are 13 police personnel, namely Lt. Glorina Dulay and S/Sg. Maynard Macabeo, both of Abra Police Provincial Office; S/Sg. Cherry Cadena and S/Sg. Jenilyn Bumanglag, both from Apayao PPO; S/Sg. Orlen Afuyog and S/Sg. Nestor Pedling, both from Baguio City Police Office; Executive Master Sergeant Rurino Tarnate and Senior Master Sergeant Gayle Jaime, both from Benguet PPO; Cpt. Michael Dangila of Ifugao PPO; Chief Master Sgt. Eugene Baguiyon of Kalinga PPO; and Lt/Col. Lee Allen Bauding and S/Sg. Jeremiah Pursen of Mountain Province PPO.

Their significant contributions in the successful conduct of various PCR activities in their respective areas of jurisdiction resulted in the resilient ties between the community and the Philippine National Police, thereby sustaining a good community affairs development in the Cordillera.

Office of Civil Defense-CAR Edgardo J. Ollet, the activity’s guest of honor and speaker, emphasized how to win the trust of the community.

“Let us put the people first, be open, listen to them, interact, communicate well, and encourage and support good activities or endeavors of the community,” he said.

The month-long celebration, with the theme “Sambayan, mahalagang kaakibat ng kapulisan sa pagtaguyod ng mapayapa at maunlad na bayan,” aims to strengthen and develop closer interaction between the police and the community and for which the PRO-Cor will conduct various programs and activities to revitalize the crucial role of the community in peacekeeping and nation building.

Lined-up activities are seminars and symposia on crime prevention and drug awareness, school visitations and distribution of school supplies, and outreach activities in different barangays and schools.
