Exec outlines programs for CAR

The newly designated Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (Cords) for Cordillera stressed the importance of intensifying convergence in delivering socio-economic development programs in geographically isolated and depressed areas to end insurgency and other poverty-related issues in the region.

Agriculture Sec. William Dar, who assumed as Cords for the Cordillera on Oct. 3 vice Department of Budget and Management Usec. Janet Abuel, recently presided a meeting with heads of offices that compose the Cordillera Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) to tackle development and security concerns in the region.

Dar affirmed his commitment to work as Cords for the region, stressing on the whole-of-nation approach in strengthening convergence in bringing socio-economic development programs towards addressing insurgency, peace and order, and other poverty-related concerns,  especially in the remote barangays in the region.

For the DA, Dar shared the Special Area for Agricultural Development program that aims to deliver projects to poor provinces and communities in the different parts of the country.

“I believe we can do much more in enhancing the growth of Cordillera,” Dar said.

The meeting included a briefer on the guidelines on the operationalization of  Executive Order  70, which institutionalizes the whole-of-nation approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace and creating  the NTF-ELCAC, a situationer on the local communist armed conflict in the region, and significant accomplishments of the RTF-ELCAC.
