Retired police general Eugene Martin fired 50 points to win the championship trophy of the elite men’s Class A of the Baguio Gray Lions Club golf tournament at the Baguio Country Club last week.

In the ladies division, Mel Donato had 26, which was good for a championship trophy, while Pugo Mayor Precy Martin, wife of Eugene, settled for first runner-up.

Manny Solis had 44 to emerge as first runner-up while retired police general Boni de Castro placed third with 43 points.

Former Baguio City Police Office director Jess Cambay ruled the Class B with 41 points followed by Edgar Paatan and Philip Choi, who both fired 40 points, but Paatan edged Choi for the first runner-up having a lower handicap.

Mel Frencillo and police colonel Cesar Pasiwen battled for championship in the men’s Class C both scoring 38 points but the former edged the later for trophy courtesy of his handicap.
George Buyacao had 36 points for a second runner-up finish.

Chang Soo Kang snared the nearest to the pin award with his six feet and four inches reach at hole number 1 while Ramon Alimba won the most accurate drive after firing 30 inches at hole number 8.

Philip Choi was conferred the longest drive for firing 260 yards.

Gray Lions Club president and outstanding Baguio citizen Jun Dizon thanked all those who supported and sponsored the open golf tournament, saying the proceeds will be a great help in the civic and humanitarian projects of the club.
