Danish runner dominates inaugural Altra 100 race
by Ofelia C. Empian

Danish runner Kristian Joergensen topped the inaugural Altra 100 run last April 29 and 30 in the picturesque province of Ifugao.

Joergensen ruled the event dubbed as “Altra 100 Conquer Ifugao” with a time of 18 hours, 21 minutes, and 35.6 seconds topping other 45 runners in the 100K category. The elite runner is a staple in various trail runs in the region.

The event gathered hundreds of running enthusiasts in Banaue.

Joergensen edged local Arnold Lozano with mere milliseconds, the latter having 18:21:35.9 for the second spot in the male division.

In third place is Wilnar Iglesia with 20:42:8.9 while Hermogenes Olvis is fourth with 20:43:20.6.

Aggy Smith, meanwhile, reigned in the female division finishing with 30:11:12.9 and the only female finisher during the race.

Out of the 46 runners, only 22 racers were able to finish the grueling 100K category of the event.

Jovencio Luspian ruled the 50K event with 8:51:36.5 out of 38 racers. Arnel Recopuerto of Haggiyo Team followed with 8:54:16.0 on second place while Jeffrey Poblete of Team Subi-Monte is on third place with 9:23:31.

The distaff side saw Arlene Uyammi of Team Pinikpikan Trail ruling with 9:29:15.5 and also fourth place overall. On second place is Elmimie Damuggo with 11:27:44.8 while Patricia Morota of UP Mountaineer placed third with 11:36:21.7.

Also in the 10K event, Aldrich Ace Villacrosis ruled with 1:12:46.9 followed by Adrian Samuel Idolor with 1:13:17.4, while Darren Slade Erico followed on third place with 1:13:23.0.

Female runner Hei Gue followed on fourth place overall, topping the female division with 1:18:56.5, followed by Joyce Nato Tagongtong with 1:20:38.1. Alayka Mae Luglug finished with 1:26:43.9 and Karen Bahatan with 1:27:20.9 placing third and fourth, respectively in the female division.
