Team Lakay’s Stephen Loman will be the first Asian mixed martial artist to compete for a championship belt in the Bahrain-based Brave Combat Federation (BCF).

Loman, who just graduated from Criminology at the University of the Cordilleras, will challenge Gurdarshan Mangat from Canada for the BCF bantamweight belt at Brave 9 set at the Khalifa Sports City in Bahrain on Nov. 17.

Loman earned the right to challenge for imposing a three-fight winning streak in BCF and has defeated Frans Mlamabo, none other than one of the sparring partners of UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

The Loman-Mlambo fight went the distance with the Igorot fighter winning by unanimous decision showcasing the superiority and growth of MMA in the Philippines.

His opponent, Mangat, is on a six fight win streak and in his previous fight, he defeated India’s top featherweight fighter, Abdul Muneer in a catchweight fight that went one sided giving him a unanimous victory.

Mangat trains in Canada and has 10 victories in his professional career with a single loss.

Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions will be held during the 2017 Brave International Combat Week, which also features IMMAF World Championships.

Prior to the scheduled championship bout in the BCF, Loman was supposed to challenge Pacific Xtreme Combat champion Trevin Jones in Guam on March 25 this year.

But the championship bout between Loman and Jones was cancelled due to weight issues.

Since then, Loman was not seen in action until BCF announced the championship match between him and the Canadian fighter.
