K1 event to aid kidney patient

A contact sport for-a-cause is slated at the La Trinidad Municipal Gym July 6 to raise funds for a patient suffering from kidney failure.

The event dubbed “Faultless” presents local fighters and young bloods aiming to build a name for themselves in the various K1 fight and mixed martial arts event.

Headlining the professional-amateur K1 (combination of kickboxing, karate, and kung fu)  event is the pair of Bryan Caw-as of Phoenix Fitness Gym and visiting foe Genil Francisco of D’Element Orynx MMA-Catalan Taytay Fitness Gym.

Co-headlining the event is the battle between Roy Menzi of the Cordillera Career Development College Builders Gym and Junie Kimmayong of D’Element Orynx Gym-Catalan Taytay Fitness Gym Manila in the MMA strawweight bout.

The event, which is the fourth event of the organization since 2013, is organized by the World Council for Combat Sports-Philippine Chapter and supported by Kaisha Life Sciences Private Limited of Mumbai, India, Right Mark Printing Press, Builders Gym, and Benguet Capitol Sports Office.

Three K1 pro-am will also see action in the fight card featuring Tom Oliver Fortunato against Kent Daryl Langpa; Wilfred Aludos taking on Jerome Balualua; and Berlin Balaswit versus Chrystal Yvonne Malecdan.

Nine amateur K1 bouts will open the one-day event that will also feature bouts between Rhandolf Rabor and Joshua Abul; Christopher John Manipon and Renden Oppas; and Farbeston Balao-as and  Xander Alipio.

Also seeing action are Christian Manipon squaring off against Glen Decaleng; Daryl Marcelino who will take on Ed Liwan; and Franco Gines against Israel Balasican.

Glenda Mae Layagan, meanwhile, takes on Kendrell Mae Canabe; Janet Dulinen squaring off against Trixie Ann Laureano; and Ruth Santong versus Eleanor Erenio.

Admission fees range from P100 to P200 and gates open at 5 p.m.

Proceeds of the event will benefit Teresita Dela Peña who was diagnosed four months ago with stage five chronic kidney disease. The event is hoped to raise funds to aid in her dialysis treatment.
