Eustaquio faces Japanese fighter in ONE comeback
by Harley F. Palangchao

SET TO FIGHT -- Former world champion Geje Eustaquio will face South Korean Kim Kyu Sung in his comeback fight set at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on May 17. -- ONE photo

Former ONE flyweight world champion Geje Eustaquio will be back in action to face South Korean Kim Kyu Sung in one of the main cards of ONE: Enter the Dragon in Singapore May 17.

The 30-year-old Eustaquio has been out of the limelight after losing the belt to Adriano Moraes in their trilogy via unanimous decision in January this year.

Eustaquio will be making some adjustments as he has fought familiar opponents in Moraes and former ONE flyweight world champion Kairat Akhmetov the past two years.

His opponent will make his debut with Asia’s biggest global media sports promotion after seeing action in at least three mixed martial arts promotions since he turned pro in 2013.

Kim currently has nine wins and two losses and one of the most feared flyweights who saw action in Heat and TFC promotions.

The 26-year-old Korean opponent will enter the ring enjoying a two-win streak, which could boost his confidence in facing the Cordilleran fighter.

The Korean fighter is a known knockout and submission artist having won most of his fights via punches, rear-naked choke, and arm bar.

It was not immediately known if the Eustaquio-Kim bout would be a part of the elimination rounds within the flyweight division.

Headlining the ONE: Enter the Dragon set at the Singapore Indoor Stadium are ONE lightweight world champion Shinya Aoki and Christian Lee.

Also to see action is Filipino fighter Richard Corminal who will face Rahul Raju of India in the lightweight division.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship contender Sage Northcutt will be making his debut with ONE against Cosmo Alexandre of Brazil.

Former champions Alex Silva of Brazil and Yoshitaka Naito of Japan will also square off in the strawweight division while contenders Amir Khan and Syagod Guseyn Arslanaliev will face each other in the lightweight grand prix match.
