Taipan edges ‘87 for title; Empire is FCup awardee

Former two-time Friendship Cup awardee Team Taipan (formely Com-Plex Computers) snatched the championship trophy in divsiion F at the expense of Batch ‘87 in the winner-take-all finale of the FCup XVIII last Sunday at the Easter College gym.

Not even the threat of typhoon Frank failed to dampedn the spirits of Taipan humbling  Btach ‘87,  87-79, even as the JVG squad finally ended the reign of Beneco in the division A finals.

The Freindship Cup, almost the equal of a championship trophy and given to the most outstanding team that displkayed on and off the court qualities, was awarded by organziers Bats 80 to Empire Cinema team.

Nelson Juico starred for JVG just as an undermanned Beneco rallied in the final one minute nefore einning, 91-98.

In bracket B, BMRP 2 nipped Curamed 1, 105-97 to bag the crown. Curamed 2 avenged their sister teams’ defeat winning the bracket C title at the expense of Cheng’s Kitchenette, 109-84.

Tiptop Autoworks humbled BMRP 1, 88-85, to take home the bracket D championship trophy.

Team Able decommissioned Pine Tree Transit, 90-84, to snatch the bracket E trophy. 

  In the battle for third place, UC nipped RFQ, 82-78, in bracket A; Pine Tree Transit edged Tea House, 92-89, host Bats 2 surviving Empire Cinema, 108-106;  NCHA ousting RAJ, 112-91, in bracket D; and Long Last outlasting Control Shift, 98-78.

San Vicente and Ocampo’s were decalred cothird placers in bracket E.
