TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The national vaccination days from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 ramped up the inoculation program of the province with 14,291 individuals jabbed.

Report from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed the 14,291 is 40.8 percent of the 35,000 target individuals to be inoculated in the three-day nationwide vaccination dubbed ‘Barangayanihan Bakunahan’.

Rizal registered the highest accomplishment with 3,214 inoculated or 114.6 percent, which is more than the target of 2,804 persons.

Department of the Interior and Local Government Usec. Marlo Iringan, who visited the province on the second day, lauded the systematic implementation of the vaccination drive and cheered  frontline workers.

He also urged people to get vaccinated, saying the vaccine is the top-protection from the Covid-19.

“The success and failure of this vaccination program is dependent on the efforts of each and everyone. Dito rin natin makikita ‘yung political will ng ating mga barangay, local, and provincial officials na gusto nilang maprotektahan ang kanilang kinasasakupan,” he said.

The nationwide vaccination days is set to hasten the reach of the 70 percent herd immunity for the country to move to the new normal.

Another three-day nationwide vaccination is set from Dec. 15 to 17.

As of Dec. 1, Kalinga has reached 44.70 percent of its Covid-19 vaccination roll-out target population of 155,095 with 109,165 individuals vaccinated with at least one dose of which 69,321 are fully vaccinated.     

As vaccination efforts continue to reach out to the still unvaccinated  population 15 years and above, booster  shots  are  now being  given  to fully vaccinated individuals. – Larry Lopez
