BONTOC, Mountain Province – Six barangays recently received cash prizes for their early submission of the 2022 Annual Budget and Devolution Transition Plan (DTP).
Barangays Tocucan, Maligcong, Bontoc Ili, Poblacion, Alab Proper, and Gonogon received P10,000 each on Feb. 7.
Mayor Franklin Odsey said the award received by the six barangays should serve as a motivation for other barangays.
Early preparation and submission of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) budget for review by the sangguniang bayan has a great impact on the implementation of barangay programs, projects, and activities.
Odsey said early submission means earlier implementation and the delivery of services to the constituents will not be hampered.
The punong barangays of the recognized villages are Wilbert Padngaran; John Lac-ayen; Paula Pangesfan; Glenn Saavedra, Sr.; Hye Bellang; and Rudy Gittabao.
Municipal Budget Officer Aida Lingbanan said the barangay budget for the succeeding year should be submitted to the sangguniang bayan on or before Oct. 16 of the current year.
The early submission of the barangay annual budget is also attributed to the collective efforts of the Office of the Municipal Budget Officer, Office of the Municipal Treasurer, Office of the Municipal Planning and Development Officer, and Office of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer which have been going to the barangays to conduct budget orientations.
The municipal government in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government through Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Lourdes Claire Peel has been assisting the barangays in the preparation of their DTPs. – Christy Mae F. Che-es and Alpine Killa-Malwagay
