Mountain Province – Six barangays are the recipients of a plaque and P5,000 each for early submission of the 2022 Barangay Annual Budget and Devolution Transition Plan (DTP).

Barangays Tocucan, Maligcong, Bontoc Ili, Poblacion, Alab Proper, and Gonogon received their plaques of recognition Dec. 20. The cash prizes are still to be given to the barangays.

The punong barangays of the recognized villages are Wilbert Padngaran; John Lac-ayen; Paula Pangesfan; Glenn Saavedra, Sr.; HyeBellang; and Rudy Gittabao, respectively.

Under Republic Act 7160, barangay budget for the next fiscal year should be submitted by the punong barangay to the sangguniang barangay on or before Oct. 16 of the current year.

Municipal Budget Officer Aida Lingbanan said the award will motivate other barangays to submit their plans before the deadline.

She also expressed hopes that the 2022 barangay budget will be completed this week.

Lingbanan said the early preparation and submission of the 2022 barangay budget and Sangguniang Kabataan budget for review and declaring it operative by the sangguniang bayan has a great impact on the implementation of barangay government programs, projects, and activities.

She added early submission of barangay budgets for the ensuing year means earlier implementation and the delivery of services to the constituents will not be hampered.

Mayor Franklin Odsey lauded the barangays for their efforts in submitting their DTPs before the prescribed period of submission.

Last year, barangays Dalican, Tocucan, Bontoc Ili, Gonogon, and Alab Proper were recognized for submitting their annual budget early.

The offices of the Municipal Budget, Municipal Treasurer, Municipal Planning and Development Office, and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management have been conducting budget orientation to the barangays.

Concerned offices of the municipality in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government through Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Lourdes Claire Peel have been assisting the barangays in the preparation of their DTPs. – Christy Mae F. Che-es and Alpine L. Killa
