SADANGA, Mountain Province – The construction of a new bridge connecting Barangay Betwagan and the highway is expected to materialize soon.
Municipal Engineer Maximo Farong-ey said through the efforts of the late Mayor Gabino Ganggangan, the construction of the 60.35-meter composite bridge is funded under the 2022 national budget.
Personnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways recently conducted ocular validation at the project site.
DPWH Chief of Planning and Design Section Artemio C. Guisala said they need to revise the submitted 2018 program of work for the project.
It can be recalled the bridge connecting the highway and Barangay Betwagan was destroyed by strong current during the onslaught of Typhoon Ineng in 2015.
Ganggangan, in his request, said the bridge will not only allow more livelihood possibilities for the residents but it will also help curb the presence of communist terrorist groups in the barangay.
The bridge will also accordingly serve as a concrete seal that the “dam project” of then President Ferdinand Marcos on the site will never be resurrected by any administration. – Valerie Taguba
