TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Agriculture continues to provide assistance to farmers tilling less than two hectares under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).
Tabuk City Agriculturist Nobleto Sagun said 6,910 rice farmers in this city received the P5,000 aid recently.
Some 2,809 farmers received the aid last month while the remaining 2,604 got their assistance this month.
The beneficiaries are registered in the Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture.
The government provides interventions through financial, equipment and technical support to the sector from the effects of the Rice Tarrification Law (RTL).
Under the RTL implementation, price of local palay relatively dropped due to cheaper imported rice.
Sagun said recipients were urged to use the financial support for farm inputs. – Larry Lopez
