The Department of Science and Technology-Cordillera said 97 students from the region have qualified for the DOST-Science Education Institute’s 2021 Undergraduate Scholarship Program.
Of the number, 48 qualified under Republic Act 7687 or the scholarship program for talented and deserving students whose families’ socio-economic status do not exceed the set cut-off values of certain indicators.
Qualifiers under this program must pursue priority fields of study in the basic sciences, engineering, other applied sciences, and science and mathematics teaching.
Forty-nine qualified under the Merit Scholarship Program Merit program, which is awarded to students with high aptitude in science and mathematics and are willing to pursue careers in the field of science and technology.
All qualifiers will receive a notice of award via the e-mail provided during the application.
The notice of award will contain details on the schedule of virtual orientation wherein the qualifier and their parent/legal guardian must attend prior to signing the Scholarship Agreement.
For those names withheld, a separate communication will be sent for them to complete their lacking requirements.
Qualifiers to the program will enjoy various scholarship benefits for the whole duration of their S&T program.
These include tuition of P40,000 per academic year for those who will enroll in private institutions; P7,000 monthly stipend; book allowance; PE/MS allowance; one economy-class round trip fare for those studying outside their home province; group health and accident insurance; and thesis allowance.

The application for the 2022 Undergraduate Scholarship will be announced soon. Eligible applicants are grade 12 students of school year 2021-2022.
