This year’s celebration of the 122nd foundation anniversary of Benguet through the Adivay Festival is back with the usual festive mood for the whole month of November.
Provincial Tourism Officer Eleazar Carias said the festival’s highlights will be the parade and grand cañao during the province’s foundation day on Nov. 23.
The day will gather officials and residents from the 13 municipalities and guests, who will put up their tents at the Benguet Sports Complex. 
This year will also be a full-blast conduct of the festival with the theme, “Adivay: A peoples’ festival of culture, nature and the future.” 
The kick-off will be on Nov. 7 starting with the ecumenical service, opening program, and the Mr. and Ms. Benguet pre-pageant, which are all set at the Capitol main entrance.
A newly-included event, the inter-regional market encounter, will also be open that day until Nov. 9 and Nov. 14 to 15 at the Capitol gym.
Events on Nov. 9 will be the mass wedding set at the San Jose Church in Poblacion; Mr. and Ms. Benguet candidates’ interview at the Stateside Resto Bar; and medical mission at the Dennis Molintas Memorial District Hospital in Bokod.
The Veteran’s Day open house will commence on Nov. 11 while another mass wedding is set at St. Michael Parish Church in Labueg, Kapangan.
The regular trade fair will be from Nov. 12 to 26 in Wangal, La Trinidad while the quiz bee is at the Gov. Palispis auditorium.
A tourism investment forum is set on Nov. 15 at the Gov. Palispis auditorium, including the medical mission at the Northern Benguet District Hospital.
Another highlight is the agri-fair opening where products from the 13 towns will be on display from Nov. 16 to 25 at the Benguet cold chain site in Wangal; skills competition and acoustic audition at the trade fair site; and mascot competition at the cold chain site on Nov. 16.
The Health Awards is slated on Nov. 17, while the Mr. and Ms. Benguet pre-pageant will be on Nov. 18, both at the Gov. Palispis auditorium.
The Teacher’s Day is set on Nov. 18 at Benguet State University gym, while the mass wedding is set at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Poblacion, Itogon on the same date.
The annual Benguet Awards is set at the Capitol on Nov. 22, while the Mr. and Ms. Benguet coronation night is on Nov. 25 at the Benguet Sports Complex gym. – Ofelia C. Empian
