The local government is planning to donate to areas heavily affected by Typhoon Odette that left a swathe of death and destruction in several provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Acting Mayor Faustino Olowan Jr. asked the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to give an update on the situation so this could be tackled in a special session of the city council.

Olowan also want to know if Baguio has a sister city or municipality in the areas affected by the typhoon.

“Probably the city government could dole some amount for these affected localities,” he said.

President Rodrigo Duterte recently declared a state of calamity in six regions due to the wrath of Typhoon Odette.

The affected regions are Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Caraga. – Gaby B. Keith
