It’s all systems go for the regional conduct of Dagyaw 2021 virtual town hall dialogue on Oct. 26.

All aspects of preparation for the event are now being finalized, particularly the regional episode topic, program flow, and other matters, said Department of the Interior and Local Government OIC Director Araceli San Jose.

Dagyaw, a Hiligaynon word which means “togetherness,” emphasizes the importance of bayanihan.

Dagyaw 2021 will focus on topics and issues surrounding local service delivery in the context of Covid-19 recovery efforts of the country  as well as the changes being implemented under the Supreme Court ruling on the Mandanas-Garcia case.

San Jose said the dialogue will also increase awareness among civil society organizations (CSO) on national and local government efforts to implement provisions of Executive Order 138 s. 2021 or the full devolution of certain functions of the executive branch to local governments, including the status of preparation of LGU devolution transition plans.

Dagyaw 2021 will also be an avenue for citizens and the government to hold discussions on local service delivery in the context of the Covid-19 recovery efforts of the country.

San Jose said outputs from these dialogues will become references of the government in decision-making and in shaping and updating government policies that can lead to better public sector performance and service delivery.

The program will bring together government officials, CSO representatives, the academe, think-tanks, and international organizations to share their knowledge, recommendations, programs and projects for their respective sectors.

The Dagyaw series of virtual dialogues are made possible through the efforts of the DILG, Department of Budget and Management, and the Philippine Information Agency-Cordillera, in cooperation with the Concerned Citizens of Abra for Good Governance, Igorota Foundation Inc.,  Jaime V.
