Cordillera’s racing pride Iñigo Anton continues to haul first trophies in the race track and virtual racing.
The Baguio teen has demonstrated anew his superior driving skills in the opening leg of the Yokohama Philippine Grand Touring Championship (PGTC) held in Batangas Racing Circuit on May 28 to 29 where his powerhouse team, Mark Young-Yokohama racing, dominated.
Just after a week, Anton and his teammates from Axle Sports, won in the Virtual Endurance Championship 24 Hours of Le Mans which was participated in by some of the top pro e-sports racers in the world.
Joining Anton in the prestigious endurance race were Alister Yoong, Naquib Azlan, and Aleef Hamilton who all happen to be considered the best virtual racers in Southeast Asia.
In 2021, Anton was drafted by former F1 driver Alex Yoong to join Axle Sports after seeing his potential that he could hold his own both as a real world and a sim/virtual racer.
Anton showed his dominance in the recently concluded Global Eracing GP championship organized by Yoong where the young racer emerged the overall champion.
In the PGTC race, Anton led the way for his team in the GT200 division, while 16-year-old Marky Young took two second place finishes in the GT150 division.
Their other teammate, Philippine Autocross racer Karol Collantes, clinched victory over Chinese racer Sky Zhu in the two races of the GT100 division.
The Mark Young Racing cars were prepared by Mohspeed of Morris Miranda and MRD Performance of Mico Vinarao.
“It was a great start to the season as all our drivers ended up on the podium. The boys really drove like veterans and they all have a great future in circuit racing ahead of them,” said team coach and mentor to the team, legendary Filipino racer Mike Potenciano.
Anton is back in the race track at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga, this time for the June 12 Petron 12-hour Kalayaan Endurance Race.
This time, Anton will be teammates with his father, multi-titled racer Carlos, and veteran racers Potenciano and Alvin Santos using the newly MRD-built, MYR Honda Civic EK of the Mark Young Racing team in the Open A/Class1 division.
Marky Young will lead the driver line up for the Mark Young Racing Toyota Vios along with Collantes and Marvin Susara in the Open B/Class 3 division. – Press release
