It’s all systems go for this year’s staging of the annual Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association Meet set Feb. 16 to 21 with Baguio as host.
Benguet province will also offer its playing venues for the conduct of the annual sports meet with the theme, “Stronger and Bolder, Soaring High Together” which will gather close to 7,000 athletes and coaches from all over the region. 
City Sports Development Coordinator Gaudencio Gonzales said the sport facilities of the city especially the Athletic Bowl and the newly-refurbished pool are ready for the participants.
Various sport venues are set in Baguio and La Trinidad, Benguet with the athletics to be staged at the athletic oval along with the kadang-kadang, sanggol (arm wrestling), sepak takraw, and swimming, badminton will be held at the Cooyesan Mall.
Billiards will be at the Puyat Sports Complex.
Archery will be staged at Teacher’s Camp; arnis, basketball, and table tennis at University of Baguio; taekwondo at Saint Louis University; volleyball at University of the Cordilleras for secondary and at Engineer’s Hill for elementary; wrestling and wushu at Easter School; gymnastics at the Baguio City High School auditorium and dancesports at BCHS gym.
Boxing is slated at People’s Park; chess at DepEd Division Office; football at Melvin Jones; tennis at Baguio Tennis Court; pencak silat at St. Vincent gym; futsal at the PFVR gym; Muay Thai at Igorot Park, baseball and softball at the Benguet Sports Complex.  
DepEd- Cordillera Information Officer Georaloy Palao-ay said the dance sports, pencak silat, and aero gymnastics are regular sports events in Caraa. However, it is still a demo sport in the Palarong Pambansa.
DepEd-Baguio Assistant School Division Supervisor Soraya Faculo said the various public schools in the city are also preparing their classrooms and toilets for the participants.
Faculo said they have also tapped the assistance of the Baguio Water District to provide 50 drums per day for each billeting schools during the weeklong event.
The annual Caraa will bring together the young athletes of the region namely the Abra Stallions, Apayao Eagles, Baguio City Lions, Benguet Stingers, Ifugao Builders, Kalinga Bulls, Mountain Province Brave Mountaineers, and Tabuk City Brewers. – Ofelia C. Empian
