Baguio City’s Smart City Command Center has been granted the status to “Go Live” as Emergency 911 hub effective Oct. 12.

Emergency 911 National Executive Director Diosdado Valeroso bestowed the authorization in the presence of Mayor Benjamin Magalong during simple rites held Oct. 12 at the Baguio Convention Center.

“By virtue of the authority vested in me as the executive director of Emergency 911 National Office under Executive Order 56 s. 2018 and its implementing rules and regulations and as the duly authorized representative of (DILG) Sec. Eduardo M. Año, the chairperson, Emergency 911 Commission, I hereby declare the status of Go Live for the Smart City Command Center of Baguio City,” Valeroso said.

Magalong said with this development, residents will be able to access programs and services such as emergency response, disaster preparedness, smart mobility and transit and health care, which will be integrated through the Baguio in my Pocket app.

Executive Asst. V Felipe Puzon said following the authorization, the city is now working on activating the system with the Philippine Long Distance Telephone company through configurations and geo-fencing.

Integration of all emergency hotlines is also being done in preparation for the activation.

Puzon said once activated, all 911 calls emanating from Baguio City will be directed to the command center, which will take charge of dispatching the same to the concerned agencies and responders.

He said they expect the activation to be finished anytime soon and this will be announced to the public as soon as possible. – PIO release
