Baguio City officials have commended Team Lakay’s Stephen ‘The Sniper’ Loman for winning via unanimous decision against long-time mixed martial arts world champion Bibiano Fernandes of Brazil in the ONE 164 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Nov. 19.

In a resolution, the city council stated that Loman’s recent achievement yet again proves that Baguio City is home to world-class athletes thereby giving pride and honor to the city and to the whole country.

The 27-year-old Loman scored the biggest and most impressive performance of his decorated career as an athlete when he pulled an upset victory against Fernandes, who is one of the prized fighters in the world.

Fernandes is known to most MMA fans in Asia, especially among Filipinos, as the defeated the former two-time ONE bantamweight world champion thrice in world championship bouts.

The 42-year-old Brazilian, who now has 24 wins and six losses, has also defeated some of the big names in MMA such as former two division champion Martin Nguyen, Reece McLaren, and Dae Hwan Kim.

But Loman, the former longest bantamweight world champion in Brave Combat Federation, has proven he was better in all aspects of MMA having outpointed Fernandes in their striking and grappling exchanges throughout the contest.

Loman also improved his ranking in the ONE bantamweight division from fifth to third-ranked world title contender. – PIO release
