Liquor ban time coverage in the city had been lengthened to 16 hours or from 8 a.m. to noon the following day.
This is part of the heightened control measures adopted in Executive Order 106-2021 issued last Sept. 2 by Mayor Benjamin Magalong to manage the current surge in Covid-19 cases believed to be driven by the Delta variant.
The previous time coverage of the modified liquor ban was from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. the following morning.
The mayor urged residents to be guided by the new rule for everyone’s safety.
The modified liquor ban prohibits the sale, distribution and serving of liquor products and other alcoholic beverages during the hours of coverage.
In his order, the mayor reminded owners and managers of food and beverage retail establishments with dine-in services that the serving of alcoholic products is only allowed as incidental to dining.
Bars, night clubs and other establishments of which primary business is the sale and serving of liquor are not allowed to operate.
In serving liquor as incidental to dining in, the prescribed maximum quantity that may be served are:
For beer, wine, or cocktails: a maximum of four individual servings per diner;
For liquor and distilled spirits: a maximum of two bottles per table shared by two or more people where the volume of the beverage does not exceed one liter; or a maximum of one bottle per shared table of two or more people where the volume thereof exceeds one liter. Neither shall be served for any individual diner.”
