The city government has withdrawn the rule allowing angkas in motorcycles in view of the national Inter-Agency Task Force directive prohibiting the same.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong said much as the city wanted to allow angkas as long as the riders follow precautionary measures, the local policy must give way to the national rule.

The Bayanihan to Heal as One Act mandates local government units to abide by the guidelines issued by the IATF when crafting protocols during the community quarantine.

The mayor said he has made representations to the national government for the possible reconsideration of the policy.

Magalong asked  National Task Force on Coronavirus Disease-2019 Program chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. who was in the city on May 21 to relay the request to the IATF.

Angkas or tandem riding is absolutely prohibited in the city. All authorizations issued by the barangays are deemed revoked,” the mayor ordered. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
