Using his talents and skills along with the support of his friends, Baguio Central School teacher Frank Lloyd de Guzman continues to create quality educational videos for students under blended learning nationwide.

In partnership with the Department of Education TV, De Guzman has now produced eight episodes on physical education, which was shot in various locations in Baguio City.

De Guzman was chosen out of the 4,000 teachers who auditioned for the newly-launched show in September last year. He then underwent training and mentorship from award-winning personalities with the likes of broadcast journalist Paolo Bediones and TV reality show director Chris Nocon.

The Deped TV channel was created as a guide through TV-based instruction to learners who are studying at home due to the pandemic. The DepEd TV is under the office of the Usec. Alain del Pascua with the Educational Technology Unit heading the project.

Since 2009, De Guzman has been teaching Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health, Araling Panlipunan, and Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan.

It took a lot of time for teachers, learners, and parents to adjust to distance learning due to the pandemic especially with de Guzman’s subjects that require careful demonstration for the learners.

The teacher’s background as a health buff, singer, dancer, and local indie film actor has helped him in staying creative to make his subjects fun for the learners. His episodes started to be aired in November 2020 on IBC 13 and other cable channels.

To create the videos, he has been given a special order from the DepEd central office to work on the videos, de-loading him momentarily from BCS.

Filipinos can watch the landmarks of Baguio in De Guzman’s TV lessons with the support of his friends who volunteers to assist the Baguio Remote Production Team (Team Agraraman) namely Jerusalem Ham, John Melvin Villarante, Karl Patacsil, Daryl Verzosa, with Jasamadhi  Verador as the director and  Jeffrey Jay Bagasol from Josefa Cariño Elementary School as production assistant.

DepEd TV Manila executive producers Andres Bonifacio Jr. and Marcia Navarra help in the production.

De Guzman is continuing to produce episodes until the last quarter of the school year 2020-2021.
