BANGUED, Abra – The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera Field Office and local officials distributed farm machineries and equipment to farmers of this town.
Around P1 million worth of farm equipment composed of 25 power sprayers, 13 grass cutters, and four multi-tillers were distributed among the farmers associations of Sappaac and Calot. The kits are funded under the High Value Crop Development Program of the DA.
Sappaac Punong Barangay Chester Bejarin said that the equipment will boost the production capability of their farmers.
“Maraming salamat sa LGU at sa Department of Agriculture sa patuloy na pagtugon nila sa mga pangangailangan naming mga magsasaka,” Bejarin said.
Mayor Mila Valera vowed to continuously deliver the needs of the Bangued farmers since agriculture is their main source of livelihood.
“The development of agriculture industry in our town has been my priority since I became the mayor and this is an early Christmas gift for all of you. In addition, we will again provide urea fertilizers for all the farmers of Bangued,” the mayor said.
Gov. Dominic Valera emphasized the importance of further providing farm inputs to Abra farmers.
“We will continue to value our farmers by upscaling their primary tools for production,” he said. – Christian Allister Tubadeza
