Baguio City Police Office City Director Col. Allen Rae Co is reminding the public to always adhere to basic health protocols such as proper wearing of face mask and shield while strolling around city parks.

The reminder comes as 78 individuals were apprehended on Oct. 1 for violating health protocols while promenading at Burnham Park.

Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong ordered the crackdown on those who violate health protocols to minimize transmission of the Covid-19 as the city government started easing up on quarantine restrictions – a step towards the new normal way of life.

BCPO Station 7 Chief Maj. Marlo G. Evasco said of the 78 apprehended, one paid the P1,000 fine for not wearing a face mask.

Ordinance 45, s. 2020 mandates the wearing of face mask until the threat of the Covid-19 is completely eliminated.

Two violators were also made to pay a P500 fine for violating Ordinance 46, s. 2020 or the compliance to physical distancing in all activities in Baguio.

Seventy-five of those apprehended were warned and lectured about Executive Order 126, s. 2020 requiring the use of face shield in public places, markets, supermarkets, groceries, malls, shopping centers, and government offices as well as inside public transportation vehicles. – Jessa Samidan
