On top of implementing the local government’s orders in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Baguio City Police Office is on full alert and taking seriously any possible threat to the city’s peace and order.
BCPO Director Col. Allen Rae Co ensured that police personnel are assigned to secure vital installations and establishments in the city, even while two-thirds or around 500 to 600 of the 800-member city police force have been tasked to man checkpoints in all major entry and exit points in the city and implement the 24-hour curfew citywide, among others tasks in line with the implementation of precautions against the Covid-19.
Co said the Police Regional Office-Cordillera sent an additional 50 police officers from the Regional Mobile Force Company to augment the city’s police force and they will be manning food source premises such as the food warehouses including the National Food Authority, supermarkets, groceries, banks, and telecommunication facilities, among other vital installations in the city.
He said reports on alleged threat and disturbance targeting vital establishments in the city have come to the attention of the police office, but these remain unverified at the moment. – Hanna C. Lacsamana
