With their recent achievements in the 30th Southeast Asian Games, athletes from Benguet were recognized by the provincial government unit on Dec. 23.
The athletes given recognition were Jason Baucas, Crisamuel Delfin, Jerry Olsim, Gina Iniong, Karol Maguide, Ariel Lee Lampacan, Rusha Mae Bayacsan, Irendin Lepatan, Islay Erika Bomogao, Jenelyn Olsim, Alexis Mayag-as, Daniel Parantac, Jedd Andre Kim, and coach Marquez Sangiao.
The athletes received certificates of recognition and cash prizes: P8,000 for gold medalists; P5,000 for silver medalists; and P3,000 for bronze medalists.
Gov. Melchor Diclas, during the Monday flag ceremony, lauded the performance of the athletes saying they have made Benguet proud with their outstanding achievements.
“We will continue our support for them through financial and other kinds of support,” Diclas said.
The governor said they will upgrade the Benguet Sports Complex with the revamp of the multipurpose gymnasium starting with the bleachers and the flooring.
He said they are targeting to improve the oval grounds as well with plans on installing a rubberized track.
In behalf of the Benguet athletes, Olsim thanked the provincial government for its continuous support. – Ofelia C. Empian
