BESAO, Mountain Province – The local government through its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) held a five-day emergency responders training to capacitate individuals with the knowledge and basic skills in responding to emergencies.

Fifty-six participants were trained on basic life support, basic ropemanship, and water rescue, and response to other medical emergencies during the training held from May 15 to 19 in partnership with the Provincial DRRMO.

The participants were composed of barangay responders, LGU employees, students of St. James High School, and personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection and Provincial Mobile Force Company.

The LGU hopes having responders who are equipped with knowledge on emergency management and skills in handling injuries can translate into efficient response during emergencies.

Dublin A. Cawed, teacher -in-charge of St. James High School DRRM, said the training was worth it.

Madaming mga information na magagamit kasi hawak ko ‘yung isang subject ng DRRM,” she said.

Cawed said she was able to overcome her trauma of water because of the activities during the training.
